$179.00 for each 6-week session.   Class is limited to 10 students.

Class Description:
If you have ever felt lost or frustrated in a painting class, you will find it very different here. Valorie has developed a comprehensive curriculum, based on classic realism training, which provides basic information often lacking in other art classes. You will learn about the various types of brushes, painting applications, painting techniques, value in color, and color theory. Choose your own subjects as you complete assigned exercises and progress at your own pace. If you have painted before, you can continue from your current level.   Build on what you already know and fill in information you may have missed in previous art classes.

Because learning to paint does require more than 6 weeks, students often repeat this class, building on what they learned from the previous session, without repeating exercises already completed.  You can continue attending through the advanced level if you wish, as you develop your own personal style, or move to the Intermediate/Advanced class (see below). The class includes lectures, notes, demonstrations, individual help, and an optional workbook ($20).

Note: Requires the use of non-toxic Turpenoid Natural, and Gamsol Odorless Mineral Spirits, rather than turpentine or other dangerous solvents.

Intermediate-Advanced Oil Painting - at ACC
Take your art to the next level

Class Description:
For students who have completed the color theory exercises in the Beginning class (see above) and who have a basic understanding of painting techniques, brushwork, and color mixing. Not for beginners or those new to oils. If you are self-taught or haven't painted for several years, you will want to begin with a 6-week Thursday class first.

This class is designed to build on your foundation of painting concepts and techniques learned from the Beginning class. We focus on more advanced painting approaches while helping you to develop your personal style.  Depending on the desires of students in the class, we may cover advanced color theory, composition, faster/looser painting, portraiture, or whatever the class wishes to focus on. I’ll work with you individually to help you achieve your personal artistic goals.

Note: Requires the use of non-toxic Turpenoid Natural, in the green can, and Gamsol Odorless Mineral Spirits, rather than turpentine or other dangerous solvents.

Supply list:  Bring your usual painting supplies.  Suggested supplies are on the Supply List tab at the top of this blog.
